Account Deletion Policy
Last updated: August 2026
You can delete your Mobile Sasa account yourself, at any time, from inside the portal or our mobile apps. This page explains who can delete an account, the exact steps, what is removed immediately, and the small set of records Kenyan law requires us to keep for a period after deletion. It applies to accounts created on mobilesasa.com, account.mobilesasa.com, and the Mobile Sasa Android and iOS apps, all operated by Bitwise Digital Solutions Ltd.
1. Who can delete an account
A Mobile Sasa account belongs to a team (your business). The team administrator can delete the whole team account. If you are a member of a team rather than its administrator, you can ask your administrator to remove your user account from the team, or email us at [email protected] and we will remove it for you after confirming you own the email address.
2. How to delete your account
From the portal or the mobile app, signed in as the team administrator:
- Open Settings, then the Team tab.
- Scroll to the Danger zone and choose Delete team.
- Enter your password to confirm it is really you.
- Enter the one-time code we email you. This second step protects you if someone else ever gets hold of your open session.
If you can no longer sign in, email [email protected]from the email address on the account with the subject line "Account deletion". We will verify you own the account and process the deletion manually.
3. What happens immediately
The moment the deletion is confirmed:
- The account is closed and every user in the team is signed out and deactivated.
- All API keys and integrations stop working.
- No further messages can be sent and no further charges can occur.
- Scheduled campaigns, reminders, and automations are cancelled.
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore a deleted team, its contact lists, or its settings. If you hold unused SMS units or wallet money, contact [email protected] before deleting so we can settle the balance with you first.
4. What is deleted and what we must keep
Deleted or deactivated: your sign-in access, API keys, sessions, contact lists and groups you uploaded, scheduled campaigns, sender ID configurations, and team settings.
Kept for a limited period: records that Kenyan law obliges us to keep as a licensed communications provider and a tax-registered business. These are:
- Billing and payment records, including M-Pesa transaction references and invoices, kept for the retention period required by Kenyan tax and financial record-keeping law.
- Message sending records (what was sent, when, to which number, and the delivery result), kept to answer regulatory queries from the Communications Authority and the mobile networks, and to resolve billing disputes.
These records are kept only for as long as the law requires, are not used for marketing or any other purpose, and are then deleted in the normal course. Copies inside our encrypted backups are overwritten as the backup cycle rotates. Our Privacy Policy describes retention in more detail.
5. Your rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to request erasure of personal data we hold about you, and to complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond to deletion requests within 7 days.
